My Rainbow Eyes - Poetry by Jenn Lundell

You weren’t there

You weren’t there
Even when you were right by my side
I never ran to you because you made me smile
All I ever wanted to do is hide

Hide from what you ask
Try the way you make me feel
How about the things you said
Expecting me to just throw myself at you

You expected too much
And never gave back enough
I always expected those dips in the road
To be a little less rough

I always thought about life with out you
But couldn’t think of being without
Finally my mind set open further
And washed away my doubt

I can’t call you a boyfriend
Not with your master plan
Whenever I wanted a serious talk
You up, left and ran

What did you expect from me
To be miserable for all my life
You planned out our future
For me to be your little house wife

I thought it was a forever thing
And finally realized that it’s not
You don’t deserve me
Our relationship completely rot

How can I look at you
When all I see is lies
How could I say that I loved you
To those cold dreadful eyes

I’m glad it’s over
And finally it’s done
Because now there’s more to my life
Now there’s actually fun.
