My Rainbow Eyes - Poetry by Jenn Lundell

What’s the Verdict?

Even with my eyes closed I can see your smile
And when I open my eyes the jury is still out
On whether or not
That smile is for me

I’m addicted to this spell you’ve cast
And when I open my eyes the jury is still out
On whether or not
The chase will succeed at the end of the day

Thoughts flood my head, ideas of what I could have said to you And when I open my eyes the jury is still out On whether or not You’ll catch me when I fall for you

Bad memories haunt my heart
A heart looking for change
And when I open my eyes the jury is still out
On whether or not
You will be my road less traveled

You got me in over my head
And when I open my eyes the jury is still out
On whether or not you’ll be the one to bring me back to reality

So when the jury comes in what will the verdict be
When I open my eyes and look at you
Will you be smiling back at me
Waiting curious as myself to see if this could become more
Than just a car ride and a supportive game of table soccer
