My Rainbow Eyes - Poetry by Jenn Lundell

Ragamuffin

You’ve got the look, you walk like you know what you want, you talk like
you know what you need, but something tells me you always leave room to
dream. Maybe it’s your smile, maybe it’s your eyes, maybe it’s your hair,
maybe it’s everything. After all you are my ragamuffin with a dream.
I see you in school, talking to your friends. Half the time your looking
off into your own little world, thinking of what it could be? What it should
be? Or just thinking about how to make those dreams come true. Maybe it’s
your laugh, maybe it’s your smirk, maybe it’s your tolerance for your
‘superficial friendships with some pretty closed minded people.’ After all
you are my ragamuffin with a dream.

You seem so sure of yourself, but part of you is always looking around to
just make sure no one is laughing at you. You seem like the kind of person
who dreams at night about saving the world, being the king, saving the
galaxy and always being the one to get the girl. The kind of guy who wakes
up and wants to go back to the dream. But it’s okay don’t worry, you’ll
always be on top of my galaxy, you’ll always save my world, and trust me
dear, you’ve defiantly got the girl. Best of all, you’ll always be my
ragamuffin with a dream.
